Since 2021, it is allowed in the EU to add ground insects (such as crickets, grasshoppers, and mealworms) to foods as a protein source. Additionally, there are many foods with additives (such as carmine and shellac) that are derived from insects (such as cochineal).

This is how it works: • Scan the barcode on the packaging • The app will immediately show you if the product contains insects or not • Additional information (e.g. Nutri-Score, origin, etc.) will also be displayed
